The great north run is hosted here annually and is the largest fun run in the world, with over fifty thousand runners taking part in the event. Go and see Ouseburn Valley a beautiful and historic part of the city, eat at the traditional pubs, see the riding stables and kids book centre. Go and see the seabird colonies and seals at Farne Island, just over ninety minutes travel by car or coach.
